What We Can Do For You

Finishing is one of the more expansive services we offer. Given the unique nature of many pieces we work on this can include anything from plain polishing to delicate assembling and plating, to fulfil that start to finish service required.

All our work is carried out in-house by our highly skilled team. This gives us a degree of control over everything that happens and allows us the ability to accommodate tight deadlines.

When a high mirror polish is required, paying close attention to detail is essential. Equally we can satin or brush an item to the same quality standard. This applies to mixed materials and given the increasing cost of metals we will work as comfortably with precious metals, as we would base metals, such as brass.

Finishing can include simpler things like soldering jump rings and re-sizing rings, or a little more, like completing a finer engagement ring. We will happily source and supply specified findings to complete a job. Should engraving be required, anything from a simple few letters to a detailed seal will not be a problem.

At Just Castings we believe in supporting those starting out, and value our vast student base, so will happily finish one-off items and have no minimum requirement. However of course for those with larger production runs we can complete orders of a larger scale, whether that be hundreds or thousands.

There are always more specific projects. Perhaps a more intricate piece that may be particularly large or have some finer detail. Our experienced Silver and Goldsmiths are not adverse to a challenge and will go over things in detail with you until they achieve the desired result. As well as this we will work on items that are a little more alternative. Examples of more challenging pieces include Gold plating extremely large items and making bespoke exhibition pieces. We always aim to rise to a challenge.

We try to move with the times and find our workshop is ever expanding. With new machinery being top of the agenda to fulfil this need. Our latest addition is our laser welder which is useful when assembling delicate pieces, such as wire frames.
In general, laser welding uses less heat than conventional soldering, and directs this more closely to the region required. This means that two parts can be joined with no additional material added. It is especially helpful when cleaning porous surfaces or sizing rings.
